The current Stouffville Arena was built in 1985. The town's earlier arena of the same name stood at Memorial Park and dated from 1949, and it took the place of Clayton Baker Arena, a 1926 rink that was dismantled and reused in Cambray, Ontario. The junior C Stouffville Clippers played in the old building from 1970 until they folded in 1984, leaving the town without junior hockey for more than a decade.
The arena has two ice pads. Junior hockey came back in 1995, when a revived Clippers team took the ice here under its first coach and general manager, George Stavro. A season later the club became the Stouffville Spirit, and it has stayed in the provincial Junior A league since, today the Ontario Junior Hockey League, with Stouffville Arena as its home rink.
The Whitchurch–Stouffville Minor Hockey Association, the Stouffville-Markham Girls Hockey Association, the Whitchurch–Stouffville Skating Club and the Stouffville Adult Skating Club all run programs in the town's arenas.
