Buffalo's Riverside rink, run by Hasek's Heroes
Riverside Ice Rink, formally the Reuben 'Bud' Bakewell Ice Rink, is a single-pad city rink on the Niagara Street side of Riverside Park in northwest Buffalo, facing the river.
In December 2004 Hasek's Heroes took over operation of the city-owned rink. The organization grew out of the youth hockey league Dominik Hasek founded in 2001 with a donation of more than $1 million to help underprivileged children play, and since taking over it has invested several hundred thousand dollars in the building.
The rink has four locker rooms with showers and a heated upstairs viewing area with seating. It is home to Hasek's Heroes, SABAH and City Honors-Cardinal O'Hara hockey, and other teams and leagues, including Canisius, use it regularly.
