North Olmsted's city rink inside the Recreation Center
The ice rink is one part of the North Olmsted Recreation Center on Lorain Road, the city's indoor complex that also holds aquatics, a field house and a walking track. The city invites residents and nonresidents alike, and daily skating admission is included in a monthly or annual Recreation Center membership.
Weekdays start before dawn, when figure skaters take the ice. Midday belongs to the public, with open skate or adult skate, and pickup hockey is scheduled in the same block. The city posts the schedule as a monthly calendar. Dress warmly, because the city's skating flyer says the rink is kept at 58 degrees.
The rink is home to the city's Learn to Skate USA classes, from Parent and Tot for ages 2.5 to 4 up to adult beginner classes, and rental skates are included in the class fee. Figure skating ice has its own per-visit fee, which memberships do not cover, and coaches need a USFSA coaches pass on file. To rent the rink, email the Recreation Commissioner; renters must be 21 or older.
