Lakewood's rink since the 1930s
Winterhurst has been a cornerstone of the Lakewood community since the 1930s, and the arena in its current form was established in 1976. It has two full-size rinks for public skating, figure skating, hockey leagues and private rentals.
It is home to the Lakewood Rangers, St. Edward Eagles Varsity Gold and Bay High School Rockets varsity hockey teams, the Winterhurst Hockey Association, the Ohio Hockey Project and Team Ohio.
Figure skaters including Timothy Goebel have represented the Winterhurst Figure Skating Club, under coaches such as Carol Heiss Jenkins and Glyn Watts. The Lakewood Speed Skating Club, which has existed for more than 80 years, counts 15 U.S. National Team members, 6 U.S. World Team members and 3 U.S. Olympic Team members among its former skaters.

Admission
Skate rental is included in the admission price. Weekday Skate (most Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, noon until 2 pm) is $10 for all skaters. Friday Night Skate (7:00-9:00 PM) and Saturday Skate are $12 Resident, $15 Non-Resident, $10 Senior and free for children 3 and under. Non-skaters are not required to pay an admission fee.
Tickets can be bought online, though online sales may close before the session starts; walk-ins are welcome as space permits. Every public skater must pay admission, complete a waiver and be wearing skates before stepping onto the ice - the waiver is signed online through the link on the rink's site.
Non-skaters are not charged an admission fee, so spectators come in free. The rink recommends that new or novice skaters wear a hockey or bicycle helmet plus knee and elbow pads. A separate Parent & Tot session is run for the youngest skaters.
