City-owned rink opened in 1987 beside a family housing development, now with two sheets of ice
Loading public skate, freestyle, and stick & puck times for Griff's IceHouse Belknap…
Griff's IceHouse at Belknap Park opened its doors in 1987 in a park near downtown Grand Rapids, next to an affordable family housing development. The city-owned rink keeps its founding mission of providing hockey and ice skating for residents in the city's urban core, and it now has two sheets of ice.
The Griffins Youth Foundation, which supports 350 local boys and girls, is the primary user and co-sponsors the Grand Rapids Sled Wings junior sled hockey team. Special Olympics and the West Michigan Special Hockey Association also call the building home, and a community room inside offers tutoring and a book nook for reading.
It is the practice home of the Grand Rapids Griffins, the two-time Calder Cup champions.
