Two-sheet arena renamed Holland Ice Arena in February 2026 when Black Bear Sports Group took over.
Holland Ice Arena is the two-sheet rink that West Michigan skaters knew until February 2026 as Griff's IceHouse West. Black Bear Sports Group announced its new ownership of the building, together with the former Griff's Georgetown Ice Arena, on February 25, 2026, and the new name took effect immediately at the previous owner's request.
Black Bear, founded in 2015 by lifelong hockey enthusiasts, manages dozens of rinks, teams and leagues, including the Atlantic Hockey Federation and the Tier 1 Hockey Federation. Its plan for Holland is a round of repairs to the systems behind consistent ice: renovating or replacing the ice plant, subfloor components and dehumidification equipment, while all current programming continues uninterrupted through the 2025-26 season.
The two rinks are home ice for Hope College hockey and for the West Michigan Ice Dogs, whose house and travel teams play all of their home games here. Around those tenants the building runs Learn to Skate and Learn to Play classes and drop-in hockey, and Black Bear describes the arena as a home base for many athletes and families in West Michigan.
