A Kings Park rink owned and run by the McGuigan family since 1972, and home ice of the Long Island Royals.
The McGuigan family has owned and operated Superior Ice Rink in Kings Park since 1972, and it runs all year for public skating, figure skating, learn to skate, and youth and adult hockey. In summer it adds hockey camps for youth players of every level.
It is home ice for the Long Island Royals, a Tier 1 AAA youth hockey organization based in Kings Park, and for the Tier 3 LI Kings. The rink says these programs have helped groom many college standouts and World Junior representatives.
Adults play in the men's league, whose champions take home the Marc Sambach Cup, and an open hockey game runs late on Saturday nights. Birthday parties are held during public sessions, and the owners count it as their most rewarding compliment when people who came through the programs as youngsters come back years later.
