Skating on Port Jefferson harbor

The Rinx at Harborfront Park is a seasonal outdoor rink beside the Port Jefferson Village Center, offered as ice skating right on the harbor from November through March. The Rinx also runs rinks in Hauppauge and Bethpage, and in November 2020 it opened this one for the 12th straight year.

The Village Center's sideboards and ice surface go in ahead of each winter, and when skating ends in March the ice gives way to a multi-purpose sports court floor. In spring 2015 that floor was used for roller skating for the first time, from April 10 to July 25. Owner Tom Palamara has compared the rink to the one at Rockefeller Center: a nice, small rink.

The Village has also used the rink for its own events, including a night of skating for residents with hot chocolate and cookies courtesy of the Village, and ice-skating demonstrations on the ice at The Rinx.
