Home ice of the St. Cloud State Huskies

The Herb Brooks National Hockey Center was built in 1989 at the corner of 4th Avenue and 12th Street, and it is home to St. Cloud State's men's and women's hockey teams. Brooks coached the Huskies for one season in 1986-87, played a pivotal role in their move to NCAA Division I and helped secure funding to build the arena, and it was renamed in his honor in April 2013.

It holds two Olympic-size sheets, each 200 by 100 feet, under one roof of more than 140,000 square feet. The main arena, named for former SCSU president Brendan J. McDonald, seats 5,159, and the adjacent second sheet holds several hundred spectators. A major expansion opened with the 2013-14 season, adding a south entrance with an atrium ticket lobby, and a 5,000-square-foot Hockey Performance Center followed in 2019-20.

Beyond college hockey, the building serves club hockey, intramural leagues, and open skate and open hockey sessions.
