Morris County's three-rink Mennen Arena
The William G. Mennen Sports Arena was built in 1973 on land donated by the Mennen Company and officially opened to the public on Sunday, January 12, 1975. At the opening it had a single ice surface with permanent seating for 2,500. A second ice surface was completed in 1986 and a third in 2002, and today the three regulation-size rinks draw more than a million visitors a year to daily public skating, a pro shop and an eatery.
The arena is the main home rink of the New Jersey Colonials youth hockey program and the main training center for the Skating Club of Morris.
Its timeline includes hosting the U.S. Women's National Olympic Hockey Team in a game against Sweden, and the Special Olympics Winter Games held at the arena included the first special needs synchronized skating team.
