The Red Bank Armory was built in 1914 for Troop B of the National Guard's Red Bank Cavalry, with a 100-by-144-foot equestrian riding hall. It housed the Guard's cavalry and later mechanized units until 1988, and by the 1950s it was being used to store old tanks.
In 1998 the armory was converted into an ice rink. Recent upgrades added two new locker rooms, an Olympic weight room, cardio and yoga rooms, a RapidShot training facility, two sheets of Glice synthetic ice, a racquetball court and a golf simulator, and a full lobby renovation gave the historic building a modern entrance.
The rink is home to the Red Bank Generals, a youth hockey organization founded in 2002 that plays in the New Jersey Youth Hockey League. In April 2024 the USPHL added the Generals' Tier III junior team, and the juniors play their home games at the Armory too.
