Opened in 2009 as a Dallas Stars and City of McKinney partnership; a third 1,800-seat rink approved in 2017
The StarCenter at Craig Ranch opened in 2009 as a partnership between the Dallas Stars, the City of McKinney, MCDC and Craig Ranch.
In 2017 the building had two sheets of ice, a StarStuff pro shop, a snack bar and four meeting rooms, and drew approximately 250,000 visitors a year. That August, after McKinney City Council approved a new 20-year lease, the plan was for the StarCenter to expand with an additional ice rink seating 1,800.
As of 2017 two hockey associations were based here: the McKinney Ice Hockey Club, which fields teams in the AT&T High School Hockey League, and the Texas Aces, which fields travel teams of all ages in the North Texas Hockey League. The Dallas Stars themselves practice at the McKinney StarCenter once every year.
