Children's Health StarCenter Multisport Northlake broke ground in April 2024, when officials from the Dallas Stars, the town of Northlake and Lee Lewis Construction gathered with community members for the ceremonial start of the $45 million project. It celebrated its grand opening on March 31, 2026, with open volleyball and basketball play and access to the new skating rinks.
The 225,000-square-foot building combines two NHL regulation sheets of ice with eight basketball courts that convert to 16 volleyball courts, eight pickleball courts and a planned Shark Club Sports Bar and Grill.
One rink carries the name of Montini, in recognition of his work bringing the facility to Northlake; the other is named for Joe Nieuwendyk, the former Dallas Stars player and general manager. The building is also home to TAV Alliance, an elite branch of a nationally recognized volleyball club.
