Get to know this rink.
Opened in 1999 and, at 120,000 square feet, the largest of the Stars' ice-only buildings, with two full-size sheets called the US and the World. It was completely renovated in 2012, and in August 2014 Northland Properties, the club's parent company, bought it outright in the same transaction that brought the Richardson rink into the chain.
The StarCenters grew out of a late-1990s plan by the Stars to build and run their own rinks across the Metroplex, at a point when a kid in Plano was choosing between Ice Bound down the road and The Rink in Addison. It did not all hold: the Duncanville center opened in October 2000 and was shut by 2009 over lease terms the club could not make work. The survivors were rebranded from Dr Pepper to Children's Health in January 2019.
Public skate is $17 with $6 rentals and three-and-under free, running mornings and afternoons most days and into the evening at the weekend. Freestyle at $25 an hour is the backbone of the weekday calendar, early morning to late afternoon Monday through Friday and first thing on Saturday. Stick and puck at $22 takes weekday mornings plus Friday and Saturday evening slots. Open hockey and parent-and-child sessions, $22 to $28, are thinner here than at Euless or Northlake. Beginners can use the buckets in the marked zones on Friday evenings, weekends and specialty sessions.
