Pasadena, Burbank and El Segundo offer three distinct starting points for an indoor Los Angeles-area skate. For a recreational visitor, the difference is not just the address. Advance tickets, rental inclusion and the boundary between public skating and figure-skating practice all affect the visit.
One immediate exception matters. At our September 17 review, Pasadena Ice Skating Center announced a closure for the Pasadena Open from September 18 through 20, 2026. An ordinary weekly public-skating pattern should not override that dated notice.
Pasadena for a public ticket bought at the rink
Pasadena’s public-skating page lists $17 admission and $5 skate rental. That is a $22 listed combination for someone borrowing skates. Public tickets are sold in person, so an online lesson registration is not the same thing as reserving a public skate.
The adult Lunch Bunch is a separate offer for ages 18 and older, listed at $21 including rental. Resident and senior discounts have identification requirements. Check the program and eligibility rather than treating the lowest advertised amount as a universal rate.
The centre’s free walkers are limited and intended for toddlers meeting its height restriction. They are not a general equipment supply for every first-time adult or older child. Confirm what your group needs, and check the closure notice before planning a September visit.

Pickwick for an advance ticket that includes rentals
LA Kings Ice at Pickwick Gardens lists public admission at $18 in advance or $22 as a walk-in, with skate rental included. Someone comparing it with Pasadena should compare the rental-inclusive totals, not one rink’s admission alone with the other’s bundle.
Pickwick lists skating aids separately at $15. It prohibits sticks and pucks during public skating and directs skaters who have passed Preliminary tests to freestyle sessions. Those rules help distinguish a recreational public skate from technical practice.
For a Burbank outing, booking the correct public event ahead is worth considering both for the listed price difference and the certainty of having chosen the right program. Read the actual checkout terms for the session you select.

Toyota Sports Performance Center for an El Segundo option
Toyota Sports Performance Center lists adult public admission at $16.75 and skate rental at $9.75. The listed adult combination is $26.50; children 12 and under have a different admission rate.
The page also advertises a Last Hour ticket. That is a shorter visit within the session, not a discount that buys the full block of ice. Compare how much time you will actually use before choosing it.
The public rules distinguish recreational skating from advanced figure-skating practice, including a separate requirement for skaters who have passed Preliminary tests. A training-centre setting can still offer public skating, but the participant needs to choose the appropriate session.

A useful comparison starts with the complete visit
The Los Angeles public-skate schedule can help narrow the date. Then check the rink’s event notice, ticket method and equipment arrangements. The totals above are arithmetic from published admission and rental figures, not promises about additional checkout charges.
Pasadena’s counter purchase, Pickwick’s advance rental-inclusive ticket and Toyota’s separately priced rental give readers real differences to weigh. None tells us which session will be quietest. Choose the right recreational opening and a journey that leaves enough time to enjoy it.
